  • This is a great zoo to view animals, especially North American animals that most people do not get to see ever in their lifetimes living in the US. Very kid friendly. Very people friend. Excellent staff, friendly and informed. You can actually get to see most of the animals with your own eyes versus binoculars.. It is very clean and easily accessible. If you plant to visit the other 3 zoos in North Dakota, get an annual pass and they have reciprocal access to all of them. You can even use it in other states for free access or discounted access. It is an exceptional zoo with a great value!

  • Good trip! We arrived at approximately 8:45 am and made our way towards the entrance of the state capital. A security guard unlocked the doors for us, and we went through a set of metal detectors before heading inside. The tour started at 9 am on the dot, and the tour guide went through various parts of the building, showcasing the most important rooms. The tour guide also went through some of the decor and paintings on the walls, explaining the significance of each one. We then went up to the 18th floor, where we got to see 360 degree views of Bismarck and the surrounding area. I did not feel rushed at all on this tour, and the tour guide was able to answer all the questions I had.

Tip: I recommend spending 30 minutes here if you truly want to see everything.

The city is here because of its access to the river which is so important to not only North Dakota but all of the Dakotas. We drove across it on I-94 and enjoyed the view. If you fly into Bismarck, it is a good landmark as you land.

  • If Laughing Sun were only a brewery, it would be worth visiting. They make a wide variety of really good beers (I was partial to the Magic Fish), so you can pretty much expect to find something that you'll like. However, Laughing Sun is more than a brewery. It's also a barbecue restaurant; we particularly enjoyed the brisket and the burnt ends. On top of that, there's also live music on a regular basis and you can also partake in axe throwing provided that you reserve a lane on the website. Plus, you can find Laughing Sun's beer throughout the area. I highly recommend that you visit Laughing Sun - plan to stay for a few hours!

Great place for quiet in a well-maintained county park. Everything is kept up well. Nice paths for walking and river access if you want to put your boat in the water. Playground for children and a disc golf course for fun.

  • I've seen a lot of improvement over the past few years! Very nice area and the manager is more than willing to help. The rental area for boats is at a very reasonable price and they also sell ice cream and sodas. People are frequently going out just to pick up trash that visitors leave in the parking lot.

  • We came to play mini golf and take our son on some rides. There is enough to do for someone his age (3). We had fun on the ferris wheel and slide!

  • This is a great place to take the kiddos. It is a bit lower key. It has a lot of fun stations situated around three rooms. Some deal with sound waves, others about magnets, some about the human brain, etc.

We have been here a couple of times over the years and they switch up the stations so it's never exactly the same. All the kiddos love it. Be prepared for years when you ask everyone to leave, because no matter how long you stay, they will want to stay even longer.

Great fun, definitely will be coming again.

  • We arrived at approximately 2 pm and made our way inside to tour the former governors mansion. This was a self guided tour and we were able to walk through the rooms at our own pace. There were informational plaques located throughout each room, that explained the significance and history of how each room was used. I was a little disappointed because most of the rooms were bare and did not contain much furniture, especially the kitchen. I would have liked to see more original furnishings throughout the house. We were able to see the parlor, kitchen, dining room, upstairs bedrooms, bathrooms and attic. Some of the rooms contained exposed wallpaper, and we could see what the designs of the rooms were, several decades ago. The carriage house located adjacent to the house was also open for viewing, and contained some neat artifacts inside.

Tip: I recommend spending 2 hours here if you truly want to see everything.

  • The boat replica is nice to see. My review is more about the path along the river, which includes this and other parks. Great place to ride a bike, roller skate, walk, etc. Plenty of interesting things to see along the way. Also, a great place to watch the sunset.

  • This was a good photo stop while walking around grounds of the North Dakota State Capitol. It's a pretty unique statue made of 100's of pieces of rebar. It stands on the ground of the North Dakota Heritage Center and is well worth a stop for a quick picture. Be Sure to visit the Sacagawea Statue that is located just a short distance away.

  • Hi, I quite liked this mall, but if you are coming from Saskatchewan I wouldn't bother driving the extra 1.5 hours from Minot. Minot is just as good!

  • I visited the Sakakawea Statue while walking the Grounds of the North Dakota State Capitol. I was a great Photo Stop and is also near the North Dakota Heritage Center. Visitor Parking is available in the near by lots just pay attention to the signs. While you are at the Sakakawea Statue be sure to visit the Buffalo Statue that is located in front of the Heritage Center.

  • Very nice facility which seats thousands and can accommodate anything from a graduation, bull riding, circus, pop concert and others. Plenty of very close parking, close to the mall and lots of restaurants around. Easy to find with no major restrictions or parking issues. Good value all around.

Even though we went after everything was closed, it was such a neat place to walk around and look in the windows. I didnt see any posting of times that the buildings are open but it would be nice to know when to get the full experience.
